Health top-up probes resume

  • The Chief Executive of the St Vincent's Healthcare Group, Nicholas Jermyn, is due to appear beore the Dail Public Accounts Committee next Thursday, when it reopens its investigations into top-up payments made to heads for voluntary health agencies.

    It was recently revealed that Mr Jermyn was receiving an annual salary of nearly €300,000, including top-ups.

    A meeting between the St Vincent's group and the HSE today, was described by the group's chair Noel Whelan as very productive. He said he would bring the issues discussed today back to the board of the group and then revert to the HSE.

    It is speculated that the St Vincent's CEO's salary may be reduced as a result of the current deliberations. Two other senior managers at St Vincent's are also getting top-ups.

    Former Chief Execitive of the CRC Brian Conlan is also due to appear before the PAC next Thursday.
