  • The number of deaths from COVID-19 in the UK has jumped by 569 in the just one day, the UK Department of Health has confirmed.

    According to the latest figures, 569 people died today, a slight increase on yesterday's record death toll of 563. The total number of deaths in the UK has now reached 2,921.

    These figures include six more deaths in Northern Ireland. The total number of deaths in the North has now reached 36, while the total number of cases there is 774.

    Meanwhile in Spain, the virus has now claimed 10,003 lives, after a further 950 deaths were registered in just 24 hours. While in Italy, a further 727 deaths have brought its death toll to 13,155.
