    The research, conducted at the university's Centre for Injury Prevention and Performance, examined dental injury incidence and associated costs in ladies Gaelic football from 2011-2019.

    The study found that dental claim costs fell by 51.7% in the three years following the mouthguard mandate. Adult costs fell 53.8%, while juvenile costs were reduced by 44%.

    The study was published recently in the Irish Medical Journal.
