A further 542 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Republic, as well as two more deaths.

This brings the total number of cases here to 65,394 while the total number of deaths is now 1,947.

Of the 542 confirmed cases, 181 occurred in Dublin, 59 in Donegal, 50 in Limerick, 36 in Cork and 25 in Kildare.

As of 2pm on Sunday, there were 283 people in hospital with confirmed COVID, 39 of whom were in ICU. There had been 13 additional hospitalisations in the previous 24 hours.

The 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 of the population in the 14 days up to midnight on November 7 was 175.5 nationally. However nine counties were above this national average, with Donegal the worst affected, at 295.2 per 100,000, followed by Meath (243) and Limerick (220.1).

The counties with the lowest 14-day incidence rate were Leitrim (34.3), Wexford (83.5) and Wicklow (89.9).

Earlier, the CEO of the HSE, Paul Reid, said that as the country heads into another week in level 5, "we should all take heart as our actions are working".

"Cases are still far too high though to relent, but these will come down further if every individual and household holds firm in reducing contacts. This remains key," he added.
