  • Disability day services are starting back this month and the HSE has launched a new web portal providing details about this.

Day services have been closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving people with disabilities and their families with little or no support during this very difficult time.

The web portal provides details about when each service is due to open and how many service users it will be able to facilitate. The number of people allowed within each location will depend on its size, as rules on social distancing have to be followed.

"Some service users have been frustrated by not knowing when they would be returning, so I am pleased that there will now be greater certainty for people with disabilities and their families around when their day service will resume," commented the Minister for Disability, Anne Rabbitte.

She said that the majority of services will be opening "during August and early September".

"I want to thank the HSE and disability service providers for gathering this data for the web portal, which will be updated as more information becomes available," she added.

The web portal is available here.
