HSE takes over nursing home

  • The HSE has agreed to take control of the Mulross Nursing Home in Co.Leitrim.

    The independent health safety body HIQA said the registered provider of the home had agreed to its move to cancel the home's registration.

    Mulross Nursing Home in Carrick-on-Shannon told residents at the end of December it was to close and alternative accommodation would have to be found. The home has capacity for 30 residents.

    The registered providers said that the home was unable to meet the requirements of the 2009 Health Act. They said the physical structure and room sizes were issues and the building would not be compliant with regulations.

    The HSE took over the running of the home yesterday
