Non-compliant agencies face funding cuts

  • Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has warned that funding for state agencies that breach Government pay guidelines could face reductions in funding.

    He said agencies receiving State funding would be expected to abide by State pay rules without exception.

    Speaking on RTÉ's The Week In Politics, Mr Gilmore said that all agencies funded by the State were expected to comply with its pay guidelines and the Government was determined this would apply without exception.

    Pressure is growing on the board of the Central Remedial Clinic to consider its position following revelations that public fundraising donations were being used to top up salaries of the Clinic's senior officials.

    The CRC was one of a number of health agencies and hospitals revealed recently by the HSE to be non-compliant with public pay policy by giving top-up pay to senior staff through both State and non-State funding.

    The HSE told the Dail Public Accounts Committee last week it had already begun deducting funding equivalent to non-authorised payments from agencies deemed to be non-compliant.
