A High Court case involving a man who tried to stop his girlfriend travelling to the UK for an abortion has been withdrawn.

It is believed that the woman is now planning to continue with her pregnacy.

The man had taken legal action earlier this week claiming the woman was being forced by her family to have the abortion.

The man applied to the court to order a psychiatric assessment of the woman to be carried out to establish if she was acting of her own free will.

The court was told yesterday that a sworn statement had been made by the woman and matters would continue as currently in relation to the pregnancy.
